ABOUT THE PROJECT

With the effect of information age ,on the one hand  information is produced rapidly,on the other hand this information reach us by means of social media.Social Media has an important effect in a society by providing them basic knowledge and information on all aspects of a single issue or on various issues of national and international level. It not only provides information and updates on various issues but it also gives a direction for making up our judgements. We know that media plays a big role in the lives of our students because accessing to all sorts of media is very common among them.

Of course, social media isn't inherently positive or negative; however, teens should have a healthy balance between exposure to media and other, intellectually and physically stimulating activities. The aim of this project is trying to mitigate the negative aspects of social media while improving upon the positive effects in students educational and social life. The students may know how to use the technolgy behind sites like Facebook and Twitter, but they don't understand the strategy that goes into using social media to accomplish professional goals. The most significant questions to be addressed in the project is; can we,as teachers teach and educate our students to the safe, sensible use of all technology? When used carefully, social media can be a tool rather than a distraction. We will use all sorts of social media by using technology to equip students with skills essential for work and life in a 21st century global society.

The main reason why we want to conduct this project transnationally is that it not only addresses the students in our school or region,it is also attractive for the students in every part of the world because in today's world our students grow up with interactive media. All European countries and Turkey,we meet the good sides of social media´s influence on students but also the worse ones. Some regrettable situations can be prevented if good sides of social media be prevailed.Partnerships with European Countries provide students with real-world learning experiences.

While conducting this project,we will try to developing basic and transversal skills, such as entrepreneurship, digital skills and multilingualism.Within this scope,we’ll use ICTs with our students as the main way of working and communicating. In this interaction,we will also try to improve the students´ communication and European cooperation. We believe that an analysing, commenting, criticising teenagers increase the prosperity rate of their countries. For this reason, another challenge is to promote our students to encourage active citizenship and entrepreneurship ;accordingly ,in line with the provisions of the Lisbon Treaty to "encourage the participation of young people in democratic life in Europe".

We will compare the effects and importance of media in the cultures, lives and the education in the countries of all project partners. While comparing, our teachers and students will strengthen their development of key skills and abilities. And also our pupils and our teachers will be in social interaction with their European partners. This interaction will foster learning and encourage social cohesion, and provide the possibility of social involvement. In this context,we will raise cultural awareness of international opportunities both for students and our teachers.

The target groups are teenagers between14-18 because they are the active users of media technology and social media use is pervasive among them.According to a recent survey of social media and technology use by 8-18 year olds conducted, young people in this age group spent an average of 7 hours, 38 minutes consuming social media per day.

To remove the main barriers to participation in European education and trainig,we will promote language learning and linguistic diversity for our pupils as well as our teachers. As the common work and exchanges will be in English, it is a perfect opportunity to learn and use it for pedagogic purposes and practice during conversations. This opportunity will make our mobilities more efficient and effective,to improve learning performance and therefore contribute to the specific objective of the programme. As well as these, this project will give a chance for schools like us which has no experience in EU projects and needs to develop further intercultural awereness attitute towards other Europe countries. We, as teachers, want to share our experiences and teaching methods via taking part in seminars and lessons during visits. At the same time, every participants will present their own region’s cultural and life style with visuals like photos, videos, pictures, leaflets, brochures and magazines. That is to say, integration, multiculturalism and intercultural dialogue are also our main concepts in this project. The Project will  help the participants know not only the European Union more concretely but also the various cultures composing Europe.
